Riddle, enigma or puzzle is something that people will find in mystery anime. Whether it will be involved something supernatural phenomenon, a case a detective should resolves, or a secret that need to revealed.
While we so often see a lot action, romance and fantasy anime every years and even every season, it's fair enough that we find it difficult to looking for new mystery anime series.
But, it doesn't mean there is no new mystery anime this year. We still have some mystery anime to enjoy, from some sort of detective mystery, supernatural and psychological.
1. Summer Time Rendering
Didn't watch this show? Watch it right now. Summer Time Rendering is might the best new mystery anime you can find this year. I personally recommended this show for you who like mystery, a new great anime about an old folktale that finally comes to surface. And let's not forget that My Hero Academia's author Kohei Horikoshi also praising this series.
The story is following Shinpei Ajiro return to his hometown in isolated island of Hitogashima after hearing the death of his childhood friend, Ushio. Ushio reported dead from the drowning in the sea, but later become suspicious when he notices Ushio's body has marks on her neck, implying that she was strangled. Remembering about a folktale he ever heard when he was a kid referring to a strange dark enigma called Shadows, he decided to try find the answer behind it and what really happened to Ushio.

2. FUUTO PI
FUUTO PI would take place two years after the ending of Kamen Rider W Returns: Kamen Rider Accel. Shotaro Hidari return along with his partner Raito "Philip" Sonozaki as private detectives who works at Narumi Detective Agency. Together they transform into Kamen Rider W, who protects the city of Fuuto from Dopants, monsters created by Gaia Memories.
One day, a beautiful girl rumored as a witch stealing a bag from a man and when the man try to chasing her, she is gone vanishing into tin air. The man later make a request to Narumi Detective Agency to find her and to return the bag. Shotaro and Philip find that the things happen in the city that involved her is more than they think before. Now, the are starting a new battle to protect the city and their clients.

3. Tomodachi Game
Tomodachi Game is a psychological mystery about a group of friends suddenly dragged into a debt repayment game after 2 million yen school's trip money goes missing.
Katagiri Yuichi, our main character, and his three friends Sawagiri Shiho, Mikasa Tenji, Shibe Makoto and Kokorogi Yotori. The school's trip money incident lead them to be suspected by the their other classmates. The a lot of money can't be gone without someone take it, but the try to believe each others.
Since they don't know to resolve it, they suddenly end up playing Tomodachi Game. The game where the main rule is to not doubt their friends. The game should been easy for them, since they have a solid friendship, but... their friendship going to be tested in this game. Whether they will trust or end up betray their friends, the true nature of humanity will be exposed in this psychological game.

4. SHADOWS HOUSE 2nd Season
A gothic style mystery anime set in grandiose and dark mansion where the residents of Shadow House live. The Shadows, are a family of nobles of family who live far from humans in the mountain. When they grow up, they are assigned a Living Doll who acts as their attendant and also their second half (the faces the Shadows could have).
The story will center on a newly created Living Doll Emilico who serves to her master named Kate. As the two grow closer and slowly exposed to various events within the house, they start to discover a number of dark secrets.
In this second season, Kate and Emilico have officially become residents of the Shadows House. As the mystery of the Shadows House still unsolved, a new incident occurs in the children's wing. Kate and Emilico, whom the Star Bearers suspect of being malcontents, investigate a mysterious robed Shadow who may be the culprit.

5. Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun
A dark-fantasy mystery about the giant hole descending deep into the earth surrounding the town, which known as the Abyss. The Abyss filled with ancient relics and the remnants from the civilizations that has long gone. There are the bravest adventurers to cross the depths for hunting spot, known as Cave Raiders. Some of legendary Cave Raiders earn the title of White Whistles, and one of them is Lyza, who is presumed dead after taking a last descent into the Abyss.
Within the depths, Riko, a girl who follow Lyza, her mother's footsteps to become a White Whistle. She is stumbles upon a robot resembling a human boy and giving him a name, Reg. Her obsession toward the Abyss, lead Riko and her new friend to explore into deeper territory and find out the mysteries behind it.
The second season of Made in Abyss will take new Adventure of Riko after possesses a White Whistle, and she is begins to explore uncharted territory, where the promised Golden City's ruin are located.
